Senza is a Michelin star-winning fine dining restaurant that, unusually, serves only gluten-free dishes, and yet the menu never feels constrained or restricted, the food is consistently inventive and creative. The sleek and attractive Lakeview venue boasts a similarly impressive cocktail List, with drinks made using an array of artisan spirits and fresh, seasonal ingredients. The drinks have been designed to complement the work of the kitchen and the results are often complex and inspired in terms of spicing and flavour profile. Cocktails were unnamed, and spirit-led; their bourbon-based drink was mixed with mint and given an extra kick by way of fresh ginger and Thai chilies, while a tequila-laced concoction was shaken with creme de mure, rosemary, mole and lime to create a subtle yet layered effect. The brandy-based beverage is sweet and rich, a blend of cherry, chocolate and cream soda, while plum, cider and vermouth crop up in the gin drink. There’s also a pretty major wine list and the multi-course tasting menus are offered with wine pairing options. There’s a five course menu available alongside a blow-out ten course option if you really want to go to town. Dishes include parsnip served with pomegranate, coriander, celeriac and Szechuan pepper and pork belly with duck prosciutto and truffle. Food is impeccably and imaginatively presented and service if of the standard you’d expect for a place like this.
