Nestled on the second floor above an array of suitably upscale boutiques, Jellyfish is an intimate pan-Asian restaurant and lounge which specializes in sushi and superior cocktails. Fans of Japanese Whiskeys will be glad to hear they stock a small range of excellent 12 to 18 year aged bottles; you should also check out their well-crafted cocktails, inventive drinks like the Mandarin Mule, laced with a hint of cinnamon, and the layered, aromatic Kumquat Old Fashioned, which blends whiskey with fresh kumquats, Chinese five spice, Angostura bitters, and orange bitters. The Signature Sour is an Asian take on a classic, mixing Japanese 12-year whiskey with yuzu, lemongrass, and egg whites for a nice light finish. The design is sleek and modern, all white and wood, with a cool blue illuminated wall display and a long blonde bar; the striking fractal white light fittings give the room a slightly wintery feel, albeit a glamorous one. This is a prime party spot the kitchen and bar both stay open late – the kind of place where you won’t look at all out of place in your Louboutins and your best LBD. If you’re eating as well as drinking, be sure to try one of their signature rolls: like the Kiss of Fire, which mixes spicy tuna, jalapeno and wasabi, the Pink Flower which contains salmon, crab, and cream cheese, or the Cherry Blossom which pairs tempura lobster tail with creamy avocado.
