Chicago-Near North Side

The Siena Tavern is a joint venture from Lucas Stoioff and David Rekhson, the chaps behind Bull & Bear and Public House, with Top Chef’s immensely likeable Fabio Viviani. This is an altogether more sophisticated operation that you might expect from the Bull & Bear crew, an Italian inspired bar and restaurant serving superior pizzas and pastas alongside a short selection of numbered cocktails, including the vodka-based #1, spiked with sage and ginger, and the #9 which mingles Jameson’s with gingerbread, bitters and lime. We’re rather taken with the idea of the #4, a blend of gin, lavender honey, lemon, and creme de violette and the #2, an aromatic mix of vodka, peach, lemon, blueberry and cherry bark vanilla bitters, topped with a splash of prosecco. The bar also stocks an array of grappa, local brews and Italian wine. The space itself is large and spacious, Tuscan and rustic yet stylish, with large circular booths making it an ideal spot to visit with friends. The food menu encompasses a range of stone-baked pizzas, a mozzarella bar, an array of Italian meats and cheeses, some delicious house-made pasta dishes, and an epic Porterhouse to share. The late night back lounge is lively and exciting, a great place to let your hair down at the end of the week.
