The bar at the luxurious Langham Hotel, one of the most iconic buildings in a city of iconic buildings, is as stunning and stylish as you would expect. You’ll need deep pockets to do this place justice, with its amazing views, super sleek design, and abstract artwork. There’s a 1,600-bottle-strong glass wine cellar and a very handsome dining room, the kitchen home to the former chef of Paris Club and Tru. There’s also a dedicated lounge area, separated into four spaces where caviar, charcuterie and crudo options are offered alongside a curated cocktail list. Drinks include the Diversified, a potent blnd of bourbon, dry vermouth, blackberry brandy, fresh lemon juice, and Angostura bitters, The Layover, a delicate aromatic blend of gin, maraschino liqueur, house-made lavender syrup, crßme de violette, and fresh lemon juice) and the Rockefeller, a refreshing tipple packed with scotch, fresh lemon juice, fresh mint leaves, and lemon lime soda. The private room with its round banquettes and huge windows overlooking the Chicago River is really something. Don’t miss the flaming chicken wings they’re pretty special too.
