Acadia has both a Michelin star and an incredible drinks program. This sleek spot in Chicago is a must visit with some classic killer cocktails.

Ryan McCaskey’s inventive and contemporary American restaurant not only boasts a Michelin star but also offers a superb drinks programme to boot. The dining room is sleek and minimalist, the food high-end and creative. The deconstructed lobster pot pie is rightly renowned but they also do a brilliant burger (topped with bacon-onion jam) if you need to scratch that particular itch. The bar area is convivial and stylish with a drinks list divided into Forager’s and Hunter’s tipples. From the former section, the aromatic and complex Maine Campfire blends rye, mezcal, cedar, juniper and honey elixir, tobacco and cocoa nib tincture, while the Local Agent is a mix of vodka, gin, Acadia’s own pale vermouth, preserved lemon, orange peel, and olive ice. The latter section contains what they term the ‘killer classics’, a Moscow Mule made with house-made ginger beer and an Old Fashioned laced with smoked vanilla-saffron syrup. The Fancy Dan menu can be had in the bar, allowing you to sample Acadia’s glorious risotto, made with Yukon Gold potatoes and green apples, as you linger over your drinks. Their lobster roll is also a thing of beauty and did we mention the burger?
