Kevin Hickey’s The Duck Inn, is one of the stand-out bars in Bridgeport, a true neighbourhood gem located in a handsome corner building with a dark façade. Inside you’ll find an inviting lounge-bar area with orange banquettes and French doors leading through to the rear dining room. There’s also a cool backyard, a popular hang-out in warmer months. The place has a retro Mad Men aesthetic with a variety of 1960’s-era furniture, vintage tables and chairs, a record player in one corner and magazine ads on the wall. Drinks come care of bartender Brandon Philips, recent winner of the prestigious Beefeater MIXLDN competition. Cocktails are seriously creative and include the Duck Out, a blend of Duck Fat Washed Park VS Cognac, Giffard Crème de Mure, Lustao Manzanilla Sherry, and Chinese 5 Spice Syrup, and the Batanga, a playful pairing of Tequila with Mexican Pepsi, and lime juice, served with a salted rim. There’s craft beer available by the bottle and the can as well as on draught. Bar snacks continue the duck theme, with a decadent duck fat hot dog offered alongside a duck and foie tamale and fried cheese curds with Bloody Mary ketchup. A whole rotisserie duck for two to share is available in the main dining room.
