mEAT
Chicago-Streeterville
May 11, 2018
No prizes what the newly opened Streeterville outpost of Boystown’s mEAT values highest. This place is a veritable temple to the flesh. That’s not to say nothing else gets a look in though: care has been given to the drinks on offer and there are some tempting cocktails on the list, not least the Champagne & Caviar, a delicious thing with house-made blood orange liqueur “pearls” nesting in the bottom of a champagne coupe and covered with quality fizz. Less refined but no less tasty are mEAT’s sherbet Mimosa and sherbet Bellini, which use house-made orange and peach sherbets respectively, They also do a nice line in classic cocktails, including a Cosmo and a Sazerac, and a good range of local craft brews. On the food front they serve a selection of meaty skewers – pistachio crusted pork, beef tenderloin – and inventive sides including Greek potatoes steeped in rich meaty stock, Brussels studded with smoked bacon and a truffle-laced fondue. Their brunch dishes are also a treat and well worth exploring, especially with one of those Mimosas on the side.
