Jazz & Blues
May 11, 2018
Hidden away from the famous and crowded street of Vesterbrogade, the bar is housed in a building which dates back to 1886. The first thing you encounter is a terrace area, a good place to enjoy an early evening drink, and where food and wine events sometimes take place. Lidkoeb is a big scale bar and cocktail project, the decor inspired by the building’s past as a laboratory for an old Danish pharmacy. The word “Lidkoeb” means celebrating over drinks, and you will easily end up celebrating, when you visit. The space is large and light-filled cocktail bar and the décor is different on every floor, as is the atmosphere. On the first and second floor you will find the cocktail menu and beer taps, but the third floor is whiskey heaven, a low-lit room peppered with Chesterfields, which has a jazzy atmosphere. The bar boasts a huge selection of world whiskeys. Lidkoeb stays open until 2am, and during that time the place transforms from cozy and chilled hangout to a party place with louder music. Since opening in 2012 the bar has transformed from a wine bodega to a relaxed, quality cocktail bar. The drinks menu contains classic cocktails, but also Danish specialities and house creations such as the Vesterhavs Old Fashioned. Prices range from 80-110 DKK and the place has an easy-going atmosphere which appeals to everyone from hipsters to smartly suited business men, making it a great spot for a quiet drink or a big night out.
