Karel van Mander was a 16th Century Dutch painter who brought Mannerism north of the Alps to Denmark. He was also something of a party animal, a fact not lost on those behind this Copenhagen club which bears his name. The dress code is formal (think suits and cocktail dresses) the food to die for and the decor an inventive modernist take on 17th Baroque. On the cocktails front, the cosmos are second to none and where better to enjoy one than on their roof terrace, the only one in the city centre of Copenhagen. Chic, slick, even louche at times, Karel Van Mander is arguably the best bar in Denmark.
