Williams and Graham

Williams & Graham is an award-winning upscale speakeasy in Denver’s LoHi neighbourhood. Inspired by the Prohibition-era, the bar is housed in a corner bookstore and serves superior handcrafted cocktails alongside a range of tasty small plates. These drinks are seriously good, classic cocktails made with care and expertise. They do an impeccable Sazerac (a hard drink to get right, with an absinthe rinse. Their New Old Fashioned is also a thing of brilliance. The Blackberry-Sage Smash blends Johnny Drum Private Stock bourbon with blackberries, sage, lemon, and sugar, while the potent Ye Be Warned mixes tea-infused Plantation Barbados rum, Smith & Cross navy strength rum, Lustau PX sherry, lemon, demerara, and Angostura bitters.
These are the kind of cocktails you take your time over, savouring the complexity. The bar is hugely well stocked, their range of whiskey particularly wide-ranging, and the various bar bites – devilled eggs, roasted bone marrow, a plump shrimp po’boy – are also well worth sampling. Bar tenders are knowledgeable and full of passion and enthusiasm for what they do. It’s easy to see why this place keeps picking up prizes. Reservations are taken Sunday through Wednesday, otherwise plan to come early if you want a shot at a table.
