Bosco means forest in Italian but we’re in Detroit, home hood of Eminem, and Bosco here means this swanky ultra-cool lounge club in downtown Ferndale that will have your head spinning at its outrageous design, drink and general deportment. The décor is all clean lines, airy space, low-slung Swedish couches and post-Ikea tables and stools – a definite nod to Scandinavian cool that we haven’t seen much of in these parts. The various rooms include a narrow front section with a swanky bar, its gorgeous white-pine counter and 20 odd steel-and-wood stools continuing the Scandinavian theme. Beyond this is an open-air courtyard with a waterfall and locust trees lit up in the dark. Guests sip cocktails in fold-up chairs on the lawn, as if it’s their backyard, and we reckon this is the nod to the Italian roots of the name. Music includes an eclectic mix of African world grooves, re-mixed soul and old Italian soundtracks, while the drinks menu is just as exotic.
