Named after the Australian landmark (the owner clearly enjoyed his holiday down under) this friendly bar and restaurant is one of Dresden’s best places to grab a drink and a bite to eat. The atmosphere in Ayer’s Rock is warm and laid-back, the food served in the more formal dining area a cut above: modern European with an Aussie influence and very more-ish indeed. The cocktail list is an appealingly lengthy thing, listing some 200 drinks and, of course, there are several brands of beer on tap, both German and Australian. The bar is popular and tends to get increasingly crowded as the evening progresses; the crowd is smart, young and convivial.
