Sky View Bar
May 11, 2018
An intimate venue with another great view, not to be confused with the celebrity-rich Sky Bar on Sunset Boulevard in LA – although the crowd here is equally glamorous. Located in Burj Al Arab -Dubai’s most famous and extravagant hotel Sky View soars 200 feet above sea level. The space is romantic and intimate, making it great for pre-and post-dinner drinks although the seventies-esque patterned carpet and somewhat kitsch light-fittings may be a little much for some tastes. And i’s big on live bands – both local and international. Floor to ceiling windows surround the bar, and if you can drag your eyes away from the glittering view the drinks are pretty stunning too. The bar’s master mixologists have drawn influence from far and wide to create a list of modern day classics and innovative classics, with signature tipples such as Red Dawn, Honey Flute and Alchemist. The food comes tapas style, with foie gras terrine, Arabic hot and cold mezze, and crispy crumbled prawns among the specialities on offer. Afternoon tea is also available, with an astonishing array of teas on the menu and champagne too, if you require something a little stronger with your finger sandwiches and scones. Staff are suitably attentive, so you can relax in the luxury to which you may well like to become accustomed. There are also a score of other bars and shops to visit nearby – you are after all in the Burj Al Arab although with its the combination of strong cocktails and breathtaking views you may find it hard to tear yourself away from Sky View. Reservations are essential.
