Nippon Bottle Company
May 11, 2018
Difficult to find, but even harder to leave, the Nippon Bottle Company has seamlessly brought together the slinky sophistication of a speakeasy with the authentic atmosphere of a Japanese bar.
Hidden off the lobby of the dapper Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai, Nippon Bottle Company is only revealed when a book case is finessed in precisely the right fashion. Once on the other side of the shelves, the chic and modern bar reveals itself, anchored by a dazzling multi-tiered display of illuminated bottles over the bar, and a chic Tokyo-esque decor.
A clue to the bar’s speciality is in its name, as the Nippon Bottle Company specializes in bottles of Japanese whisky and sake. The whiskies run the gamut in age and flavour profile, with the staff expertly bringing out these attributes in a range of creative and classic cocktails like the Fuji Nikka Tikka – blended Japanese whisky, citrus liqueur, absinthe, bitters, housemade almond infusion, fresh pineapple and lime juice. Sake features in concoctions like the Blushing Geisha – sake, crème de peche, prosecco, rose water, yuzu lemon, and elderflower, and the bar isn’t afraid to get creative with gin either, as the Mr. Miyagi – dry gin, melon liqueur, cucumber, lemon juice – has quickly become a favourite.
If you are from the old school though and prefer your whisky Scottish, Nippon Bottle Company has you covered too, as they stock the finest bottles from each and every region in Scotland, in addition to nearly every spirit, liqueur, and after-dinner sipper from around the world. Bottles of Japanese craft beer are also stocked, pairing perfectly with the delightful (ginger hoisin duck tacos, anyone?) bar snack menu.
