Ancient and atmospheric, La Menagere is a beautiful and decadent restaurant new to Florence. The bare un-plastered walls are a hint that this restaurant need no distraction from the delicacies and fruity drinks they are proud to serve up.
The old building was refurbished in only 90 days. What may look like simply forgotten aspects such as the half tiled walls and the visibly rusty furniture was actually well thought out by designers to create a rustic feel. The restaurant is simple and bare but holds many beautiful features. The high ceilings give the place a feel of lightness, which help customers to feel relaxed. Gorgeous blooming flowers fill the space, all thanks to their in-house florist who set up shop inside the restaurant, which is an interesting concept nowhere seems to have tried before.
The bistro style food is served up daily, never forgetting their nouvelle roots. Staff here come from the reputable Florence’s Istituto Alberghiero Saffi catering college, and while they may seem young, this gives the budding chefs the chance to use their skills, imagination and customer service. Top breakfast choice are the muffins, and we’ve heard that they serve ‘the best’ coffee in Italy. If you’re stopping by for lunch or dinner, then we recommended the ravioli. It’s not only served up as beautifully as the restaurant itself, but it will guarantee you want to stay for dessert.
