This uniquely stylish cocktail lounge in the heart of Florence is also an exhibition space – a space designed to showcase and celebrate the city’s rich history of craftsmanship. The venue is devoted to art and design. The walls are decorated with turn of the century photographs and posters. The room is full of display cases crammed with old curios and vintage pieces. There is custom lighting and an abundance of old radio equipment. All manner of objects hang from the ceiling. It all makes for an atmospheric and inspiring environment in which to drink.
The cocktails aren’t an after-thought. The drinks list changes seasonally and is also steeped in Florentine tradition, drawing on apothecaries and herbalists to create drinks which are also artisan in nature. Everything is fresh and made from good quality ingredients, liquors and infusions. Previous highlights have included the Toast of New York, a rum cocktail sweetened with raspberry juice and hazelnut liqueur. Together this all serves to make Mayday a creative and atmospheric place to sit and sip and soak up your surroundings.
