A timeless treasure hidden in Frankfurt’s Hilton hotel, Gekkos is a multiple mixology award winning venue, which has stood the test of time by taking patrons on a tour of different drinking eras, while losing none of today’s mixology mastery along the way. While Gekkos is indeed located in a hotel, the bar attracts a diverse – and very sharply dressed – crowd full of local cocktail aficionados, social scene stars, and global citizens in town for business at one of Frankfurt’s famed financial firms. It makes for a unique mix, and from the moment the crowd steps inside the bar, Gekkos surrounds them with class in the form of dim lighting, soft velvet seating, and curvaceous gilded lighting fixtures above the bar. The drinks – and decor for that matter – at Gekkos are meant to take you back in time to different drinking eras, with cocktails from before, after, and during Prohibition all making appearances. Special or seasonally-influenced menus are often put together, including recent lists inspired by the television show Breaking Bad and famed German Romantic Alexander von Humboldt and his Latin American adventures respectively. Bourbon is a particular passion at Gekkos, and they stock over fifty bottles, playing a role in many of their house specialties, which along with a vast selection of gin and tonic options, helps cement Gekkos reputation.
