Vai Vai

You may be forgiven for thinking that, upon entering Vai Vai through its somewhat unassuming entrance on the ground floor of an office building, you have stepped into an industrial warehouse. The owners would be delighted – their vision was of a Mediterranean restaurant and bar decked out in ‘industrial chic’ decor. Luckily for them, they pulled it off fabulously and now the exposed stone walls, scaffolding (along which Vai Vai’s many spirits and wines are lined) and wooden palettes add an altogether unique atmosphere to proceedings. Vai Vai’s primary drinking distraction is wine, which is sought to pair perfectly with the restaurant’s predominantly-Italian food. The list is extensive and impressive, broken down by country and served by glass or bottle. There is also, delightfully, a wide range of champagnes and sparkling wines. If customers should choose to indulge only in drinks, they can pull up a stool at the shiny green marble bar and ask the bartender to whip them up any one of a number of refreshing and modern cocktails. Our favorites are the Hugo – prosecco, elderflower, lime, mint and soda – and the Ernesto Campari; herbal liqueur, cherry liqueur, lime and fresh grapefruit.Food at Vai Vai runs the gamut from perfectly-grilled steaks to pastas, burgers and salads and during good weather there is a sunny outdoor terrace on which to enjoy your meal.
