Perched on the 23rd and 24th floor of Hamburg’s famous Dancing Towers (Tanzende Türme), Clouds is a den of casual elegance high above the city home to a cocktail bar, restaurant, rooftop terrace, and quite simply the best views in town. Although it definitely takes pride in its title as “the highest bar in Hamburg”, Clouds isn’t just about scoring points based on its elevation, as it presents an expansive cocktail list full of ultra-creative new favorites bursting with house made ingredients and premium spirits, cleverly divided into starters, main courses, and desserts. Victoria the Queen is a sumptuous starter, made of local gin, aromatic French aperitif, fresh lime juice, sugar, and champagne, while the Mexikanischer Herbst is a marvelous main course made of honey-infused mezcal, orange liqueur, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, egg white, sugar, and dried leaves, and the Cleopatras Bad is a delectable dessert composed of Navy Strength rum, orange liqueur, house almond syrup, and milk, all flaked with gold dust. If you can’t choose one course, they naturally offer a three-course cocktail tasting menu. When the weather is nice in Hamburg, a breathtaking roof terrace called Heaven’s Nest is opened at Clouds, serving refreshing cocktail in jam jars, fresh lemonades and iced teas, among other sunny specialties. The sweeping views over the hardworking port city from Heaven’s Nest are well, heavenly. Bottom line: unlike some bars with a view out there, Clouds has found the perfect blend of style, substance, and altitude.
