Angelina Restaurant & Lounge @ Sofitel Legend
May 11, 2018
Upon walking into Angelina Restaurant & Lounge you can tell it’s a classy establishment. Plush brocade upholstery, chandeliers dripping from the ceiling, polished wooden floors and wine cabinets that glow with promise all greet the eye upon entering the venue. And if you hadn’t already guessed before you entered, the Metropole (that is, the hotel in which Angelina is based) is considered one of the nicest in Hanoi, so set your expectations accordingly.
The food menu at Angelina is decidedly Italian in style, featuring everything from lobster to homemade pastas and thin-crust pizzas. Charcuterie sharing platters make the perfect starter or accompaniment to drinks, while the cloud-like cannolis are a light and creamy dessert. Cocktails are whipped up by an enthusiastic and accomplished bar team and include a particular favourite of Angelina regulars: the Joan Baez, a flaming concoction that some claim tastes like an alcoholic version of Vietnamese pho. Aside from the theatrics, guests can enjoy a good selection of Italian wines by the glass or bottle, an impressive range of premium spirits and a handful of (mainly Asian) beers. DJs spin funky house tunes every evening at Angelina from 9pm, making it the perfect place to dine first and imbibe later.
