An unassuming entrance cloaks the steps up to Broma – an edgy and hip rooftop bar whose views can rival some of the best in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). The tagline for Broma is “Not a Bar” and indeed this vibrant space is much more – meeting spot, friendly hangout, dance party. Located on the top floor of a building in bustling District 1, Broma’s rooftop terrace is decked out with padded leather benches, candles and fairy lights, which all add to the special ambiance. From here, visitors can enjoy a sweeping view of the city streets and skyscrapers, while sipping on signature cocktails and enjoying the regular roster of live musicians. Broma’s drinks selection is as eclectic as its decor – running the gamut from international craft beers (they even have a special white wheat Belgian-style beer made by a local craft brewery) to top shelf spirits. Cocktails are fruity and fun, including the Earthquake – a muddle of tequila, amaretto, blackberry and blue curacao – and the Rum Bo Hue; a herby rum concoction with a little added warmth from cinnamon and chilli. Pitchers of sangria and bottles of wine are also on offer, as well as a selection of racy-sounding shooters for the more daring. Aside from the music provided by live singers and DJs, Broma occasionally screens comedy shows or live sporting events on a big screen out on the terrace, and takes their “Not a Bar” slogan to the next level with the addition of a secluded games room with pool table.
