Headed by award-winning chef Umberto Bombana, 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana is the first and only 3 Michelin-starred Italian restaurant outside of Italy, a distinction it has held for the past 8 years. But at this world-famous venue overlooking Hong Kong’s bustling Chater Road, the cocktail bar - headed by star bartender Devender Seghal - is a destination of its own.

Named after Federico Fellini’s 1963 classic film, 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana is located in Central’s luxurious Landmark complex, at the heart of Hong Kong’s business district. Adjacent to the restaurant’s main dining area, the intimate cocktail bar and lounge exudes a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere, with soft lighting, natural wood paneling and a crisp white marble bar giving the space a sense of understated elegance. Comfortable and inviting, it provides a perfect escape from the neighborhood’s hustle and bustle, and an experience that’s worthy of its own recognition: the bar has been featured among Asia’s 50 Best Bars for three years since 2017.

Come here to enjoy a suspended moment over meticulously crafted cocktails – and truly delicious antipasti – before a night out on the town. Just as in chef Bombana’s kitchen, the bar puts the utmost care in its sourcing of high-quality ingredients and perfectly executed recipes. The menu includes an array of classic Italian aperitifs, forgotten spirits and bitters, a dazzling selection of wines by the glass from the restaurant’s 2000-bottle wine list, and bite-sized samples of the restaurant’s outstanding cuisine served in canape form.

Cocktail-wise, award-winning bartender Devender Seghal has headed the bar programme since 2014, pouring his innovative flair and perfect technique into standout signature cocktails and bespoke creations such as the 8½ Caviar Martini – served with Italian Oscietra caviar, and the Optimist, made with rum, ginger syrup, honey water, lime juice, yellow chartreuse and fresh basil.

In pure Italian form, the bar offers a daily aperitivo between 5PM and 8PM featuring wines, martinis and complimentary small plates.
