A Spanish superstar that looks upon the mountainous side of Mid-Levels and serves some stellar Iberian treats. The contemporary menu of small bites to complement the refreshments is worthy of a visit alone; among the hits are the Iberico ham shoulder with Barcelona tomato bread and the “explosive” smoked salmon air bag with sour cream. The two chefs behind the mini culinary masterpieces are natives of Catalonia, so expect some authentic ingredients and the legs of cured jambon sliced with aplomb. Classic tapas winners and full-blown paellas can also be ordered from the perky balcony with its urban-meets-mountain vista. The cocktail list keeps it short in comparison to the food, but the sangrias – red, white and pink – can be trusted to deliver the flavours of Spain and are a great shareable cooler. Elsewhere the martinis, including an award-winning jasmine variety, are the go-to drinks with a Spanish G&T (“the most popular drink in Barcelona”) a powerful blend. The cool, white interior – from the tables and chairs to the porcelain fixtures and fittings – make this a polished spot for Euro-philes and well-heeled bon viveurs.
