Honi Honi sells itself as HK’s first tiki cocktail lounge and it’s a vibrant and stylish spot, light and bright, like a Polynesian eruption in the centre of the city. The bar has a cool, beachy vibe, laid-back yet attractive; there’s an abundance of bamboo, colourful seating and a magnificent patio area, splashed with greenery grab a seat out here if you can. It’s not as kitsch or as garish as some tiki temples, even taking into account the pictures of grass-skirted women on the walls and the Polynesian masks, it’s relatively understated. They do a great range in tropical cocktails, including one of the best Pina Coladas in town, and they do both Don the Beachcomber and Trader Vic’s-style takes on the classic Mai Tai. The Caribbean Lagoon cocktail is a mixture of Havana Club 3Yo Rum, Malibu, Blue Curacao, Coconut Milk, Pineapple Juice, Guava Juice, Lemon Juice and they’re not averse to the occasional paper umbrella which is good because neither are we. They stock an impressively vast vast range of rum and do a decent array of bar snacks to accompany your drinks. The atmosphere is colourful and convivial too.
