Before you ever step foot into her ultra hip Hong Kong bar and restaurant, you are bound to have a few questions about Mrs. Pound. First and foremost, who is she? Secondly, why is her venue hidden in the back of a stamp shop? The answers are simple. Mrs. Pound was a jet setting burlesque dancer who decided to run away from fame and fortune and instead hideaway in Hong Hong with her one true love, Mr. Ming. Mr. Ming gifted her his stamp shop to use as a refuge, and she turned the stamp shop into a speakeasy style restaurant and bar. Yes, the story is completely made up, but that doesn’t put a drown on the fun at Mrs. Pound. The physical storefront of Mrs. Pound is that of Mr. Ming’s Stamp Shop, and once you are through the secret entryway, you are transported to a new world filled with sights, smells, and drinks from the fictional Mrs. Pound’s travels around the world. Drinks like Hemingway’s Favourite with dark rum, Early Grey tea syrup, and bitters and the Curtains Up featuring gin, bergamot, basil, and a healthy rinse of Absinthe take you back to Mrs. Pound’s days tasting exotic drinks on first class flights. The food menu is Asian street food centric with plates like pork belly skewers and Sriracha street corn sticks deliciously completing your introduction to the secret world of Mrs. Pound.
