One of Hong Kong’s best loved clubs, Play occupies a unique spot, both physically and in the hearts of Hong Kong’s clubbers. With an enviably central Lan Kwai Fong location, it is one of the biggest – if not the biggest – single-floor clubs on the island -- Play clocks in at an impressive 8000 square-feet-plus. With three rooms, two DJ booths and two main bars – as well as a separate, dedicated Champagne bar – and one giant floor, the club has everything that Hong Kong clubbers need, even down to its two pool tables.
The club does its best to merge glam Dragon-I sensibilities with a more late-night, after-party kind of vibe, which, given its space and the diversity that its multiple rooms offers, it pulls off well. With a unique approach to interiors, designed collaboratively by its in-house design team and UK-born, Hong Kong-based artist Simon Birch, Play is as visual as it is aural. A small but elegant menu by one of the city’s top Japanese chefs, Satoru Mukogawa, rounds off the sensory experience.
Catering to a wide range of musical tastes, Play is home to everything from hip hop nights and frat-boy-inspired drinking games to some of the best touring DJs on the ones and twos alongside resident DJ Jekey. Being a club – and this being Hong Kong – bottle service is very much the order of the day but there are also a host of fine cocktails, and a rotating cast of guest mixologists.
