Tiffany's New York Bar
May 11, 2018
There are plenty of Hong Kong bars that have taken on the prohibition-era, speak-easy style aesthetic, serving up bourbon-based drinks and a hedonist vibe. But the Intercon got there first. This self-described New York bar has one of the city’s largest collection of whisky and has enough polished wood and wrought iron to fit out a lower East Side bordello. The atmosphere is far from the high jinx associated with the era; there’s more of a relaxed vibe during the day, while a band gets things moving most nights of the week. Under a dome of stained glass the bar serves some of the choicest scotches available, craft beers and more. From the cocktail list come a number of well-made classics, including fine Old Fashioneds, mixed with American bourbons or just as well with the likes of Ballantines or Chivas scotch. There are usually a number of short-term seasonal offerings, too. When it comes to food, it veres towards the hearty with a rack of barbecue ribs the best of the meaty options that include burgers and bangers.
