A sister of the wildly successful Glasshouse, Townhouse is the most recent bar and restaurant concept from the Gaia group, which aims for and succeeds in bringing the big city glitz of Hong Kong into its perch on the twenty-third floor of the new California Tower in the heart of the Lan Kwai Fong nightlife area. The setting of Townhouse is stripped-down trendy as walking in you are greeted by a bare concrete floor and an exposed ceiling with utility wires crisscrossing it like a locomotive track. This is all by design, as Townhouse intends for its atmosphere to take on the personality of a lowly-lit cinema and leaves all the shining to the twinkling lights of Hong Kong outside its crystal clear windows. The “East meets West” cocktail menu runs the gamut from the American-inspired Hidden Sin – their signature cocktail full of bacon-infused bourbon, lemon, honey, and garnished with a strip of bacon – to the eastern-leaning Welcome to Town, which is concocted with chamomile infused gin, Aperol, and grapefruit. Other unique dashes the bartenders put into glasses at Townhouse are homemade lavender-infused Choya Plum wine and seaweed syrups, which are both homemade. Fusion bites follow suit, with snacks like lemongrass and lime chicken wings and grilled mushrooms with kimchi cheese presented on skewers serving as a perfect combination to the cocktails.
