Is this branch of the Australian shrine to steak a cut above the others? With the added “Prime” to its moniker, it could be in terms of sizzling slabs of beef. But this vertiginous watering hole, housed high in The One mega-mall on Kowloon side is also a top place for sundowners and late night drinks. While the open kitchen keeps meat and seafood lovers happy – some ribs and surf and turf snack options are available for bar-diners – those wanting a stunning view of Tsim Sha Tsui’s concrete canyons and Hong Kong island beyond will be rewarded. Just off from the lounge area, almost indistinguishable from the main open-plan restaurant, the terrace has ample room for groups of friends to gather, with a few high tables and chairs on hand for more considered socializing. The bar is stacked with gleaming bottles of a little of what you fancy, and bartenders take as much care and attention on their drinks as the chefs in the kitchen do on their steaks. The list of gins is healthy, and the cocktail list sprightly. The Prime 21 is the signature drink, vodka mixed with apple liqueur and fresh mint. If the weather is yucky, its still a decent spot to savor the 270 degrees views, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows and the warming tones of the dark wood floor and smart comfy furniture.
