As with its global siblings, Hong Kong’s Mandarin Oriental is really something. The attention to detail is second to none; that’s what makes the difference between these places and other international hotel chains. It’s certainly evident in the MO Bar, a seriously seductive space, the work of renowned designer Adam Tihany. There are smooth stone floors, deep-piled carpet and creamy leather seats. In one corner water cascades down a glass wall, in another there’s an elevated lily pond. The people who drink here, mainly HK’s banking set and the odd movie star, are similarly sleek and immaculately turned out you’ll feel out of place if you’re not. The drinks are perfectly executed, but you wouldn’t expect anything less.
