Beautiful African restaurant-bar in the flashy new Canary Wharf-style Melrose Arch development. It’s an exquisite interior, with a balcony restaurant overlooking a bar with stools and high tables; and a winding curved stairwell going down to various basement levels. Water pours down the walls of one of the rooms and hookah pipes and colourful cushions make you feel you’re in a souk. A vibrant racial mix of hip new South Africans make up the clientele, taking cocktails in the bar or at tables outside before heading inside to dine. Full of local celebs, politicos, business types and tourists there’s live African music thrown in that included a tap dancer on our night, and the delicious food includes everything from Moroccan tajines to saucy Afrikaner ox tail stews. Not to be missed.
