The Rieger Hotel Grill and Exchange
Kansas City-City Center
May 11, 2018
Filled with original features, The Rieger hotel and exchange restaurant stands proudly in the 95 year old building that holds a lot of history. Created in 1915, this hotel was home to railway workers, travelling salesmen and other guests on the historical crossroads of the art district in Kansas City.
The three story building has been restored, leaving several original features as part of the existing building including the original floor tiles engraved with their signature “R” in the restaurant.
Food at The Rieger could be classed as a ‘classic American grill.’ There are many delicious items on their extensive menu but we have a few favourites to share. Try the ‘salted catfish brandade’ for starters with sweet potato butter, oregano, leeks and ricotta salata, followed by the delicious ‘honey del farm’ with some glazed parsnips, carrots and bread sauce. There is also a small bar food menu prepared for those who want to make a quick pit stop.
For drinks The Rieger have some classy wines on offer as well as some well mixed cocktails! Try the ‘Horsefeather’ cocktail that is rye whiskey, bitters and ginger beer.
Top tip: Ask the bartender about their daily special cocktail and don’t forget to book a place in advance, as The Reiger can fill up quite quickly!
