Hyde At 53M is owned by the good people behind The Good Batch café and is ray of liquid sunshine in Damansara Uptown, a neighbourhood not known for its cocktails. You enter the space through the side entrance and ascend to find yourself in a smart room of black leather Chesterfield-style sofas and smooth jazz. There are two spacious sections, one air-conditioned and indoors, the other alfresco with a view over the rooftops. The bar is well stocked – with everything from absinthe to Japanese single malt – and boasts a brilliant cocktail list, with drinks including classics like the Old Fashioned and more adventurous concoctions like the Flying Grasshopper, a sweet but potent mix of vodka, peppermint liquor, and cacao liquor served with an After Eight, for a delicious after-dinner treat. Bar snacks and nibbles include moreish hot & crisp, sui kow, stuffed with seafood paste, which are all kinds of yum. Cocktails are stylishly presented and the bar has a sharp, cool vibe which is really appealing. There’s also a decent list of craft beers available.
