The view is the killer thing here. Angelica is sleek new rooftop bar and restaurant with considerable wow factor. It’s the terrace that does it. Boasting some of the best views in the city, the perfect place for an after-work cocktail and supremely fresh fish and seafood. Inside it’s a glossy, white, light space, clean, contemporary, all metal and glass. The cocktail list is more of a book, one which features both classic and modern drinks, like the Kentucky Brunch, a twist on the Mint Julep, and Passoa and Passion, a fruity Aneglica original. They serve a zingy Wasabi Martini and a deeply smoky BBQ Manhattan as well as all the usual suspects. Their take on the Amaretto Sour laced with sweet basil and cranberry is particularly intriguing. There’s an excellent wine list and they stock a small but appealing range of local craft beer. Food-wise, fresh fish is the order of the day, sourced from Bridlington Bay. Raid the raw bar or try the dressed crab or, if you don’t fancy fish, the ‘minute’ steak or the house burger. All of their produce wherever possible is locally sourced. Service is super smooth as you might expect from a D&D operation and while it’s almost too slick at times, a little too bright and white, that view is something special.
