This American style brew pub is one of a clutch of upmarket new spaces to open around Boar Lane, near the gleaming new Trinity Centre. From the people behind the Euston and Sheffield Taps, it’s a faintly industrial space, what with all the brewhouse paraphernalia, an abundance of copper, polished steel and pipework, chunky ducts and air-con vents. Alongside all this are an array of leather booth seating, a few squat tables and a handsome cherry wood counter. Here’s where the magic happens, though you might not guess it as there are no handpumps on display rather a series of taps behind the bar. The house brew is supplemented by a range of craft beers from the UK and around the world. There are 27 available on draft at any one time – Liberty Treacle Stout and Bullet Original IPA have both been known to feature – as well as over a hundred bottled options. And if beers not your thing, their wine list is pretty decent too. If you’re peckish, they have a wood-fired pizza oven and make a superior pizza, the dough laced with beer brewed on the premises.
