In the heart of the always-up-for-a-street-party Lan Kwai Fong district of Hong Kong, LUX stays above the fray with a swanky bar and European tapas kitchen. Serving classy cocktails and continental cuisine, LUX manages to stand out from the crowds below to truly become the spot to see and be seen in the area. Once off the bustle of the surrounding streets, LUX sprawls out before you over two bejeweled levels, with a dazzling staircase in between. The drinks are the star of the show downstairs, with plush velvet couches to slink and sip on butting up to a bay window facing the street, perfect for people watching until late. Upstairs is the domain of the dining scene at LUX, and both floors are decked out in Burgundy red fittings and flattering lighting that exemplifies the refined but stylish bar. The cocktail list is innovative and impresses with signature offerings like the Love in Paris, which uses molecular foam-building techniques with exclusively French spirits – think V.S.O.P and Chambord with ginger – to construct an homage to the Eiffel tower. The rest of the drink menu at LUX is home to an extensive line of ultra premium spirits and wine, with a fun line of cocktails by the pitcher and shooters thrown in for good measure, proving that you can’t completely ignore the pull of the raucous Lan Kwai Fong scene.
