The Philharmonic Dining Rooms
May 11, 2018
Known locally as ‘The Phil’, this historic watering hole in Hope Street is housed in one of the city’s most beautiful buildings. Both the exterior and interior of the Grade II listed venue are awash with Art Nouveau detailing. Walls are paneled in rich, dark, wood and a golden eagle hangs over the bar. As well as a main bar area there are two small drinking snugs and a spacious Grande Lounge. As a Liverpool kid, John Lennon is, unsurprisingly, said to have sunk a pint or two in the Phil and even the toilets are on the grand side, with marble urinals in the gents.
