The first bar of its kind in London, basement Sate pairs cocktails with desserts – why has no one done this before?
Located in a dimly-lit, dark wood-panelled Soho basement on Broadwick Street full of stylish leather chairs, it’s the kind of place that serves salted caramel cocktails – how good does that sound?
The cocktail menu feature twelve drinks, created by Byly Tran of L’Entree Des Artistes. His concoctions include the Japanese whisky based drink called a Salty Granny (no. we’re not sure why it’s called that either). The Arboriculturist is a ripe fruity mix of Calvados, Cinnamon and Pear Syrup, and Sherry while the deep red Beat Me Up blends Vodka with Beetroot, Ginger, and Moscato.
On the dessert-front, there are goodies from ex-Maze pastry chef Dorian Picard, delicious creations, like a spiced blood orange Bulle and a crisp, decadent Mille Feuille Chocolat.
While this place will be heaven for the sweet toothed, the complexity and variety of the drinks means there should be something on the menu to please everyone.
