A sophisticated take on the traditional English pub, the Blue Boar is the place to go if you’re visiting Westminster. Best known for being many MP’s second home, this lively and popular pub is a fixture of the local political life and has the historical trinkets to prove it.

Sporting its own MP bell to warn MPs that they are late for voting at the House of Commons, this establishment is a piece of history in itself. The mouth-watering food menu, imagined by Executive Chef Michael Riordan and his team, elevates British bar food to new heights, and perfectly accompanies the bar’s wide selection of craft beers and inspired cocktails.

The cocktail list is ever changing at this cozy and traditional drinking hole. In fact, the bartenders challenge themselves to create a new cocktail ever month, each better than the last. On the regular menu, try the No Big Deal, an exotic mix of Oban whisky, midori, Kwai Feh, Falernum, grapefruit and salt that makes for a surprisingly easy to drink libation. If you’re feeling more classic, opt for the Dark’n’tory, a witty mix of Patron, Campari, Grand Marnier, pink grapefruit and cranberry. The bar also features “Political cocktails” such as Theresa’s Kitten Heel Fizz, a blend of citron vodka, blue curaçao, lime, sugar syrup and prosecco: a joyous drink that certainly gets the conversation going.

You come to the Blue Boar expecting a quick drink after work, and you end up staying the evening and ringing your friends to tell them to join. Such is the beauty of a perfectly well thought out bar that delivers on every front: warm and cozy design, fun and interesting crowds, friendly staff and perfectly crafted cocktails. A private drinking room is also available if you want to take the party up a notch.
