The new bar at the St Pancras Renaissance is one of the grandest rooms in London. To call it stately would be selling it short this place borders on palatial. It’s spacious and high-ceilinged with gothic arched windows and massive concrete pillars plus a few modern touches to bring it up to date. Though the room is cavernous, it’s not too daunting, and a lot of thought has gone into making it feel welcoming and elegant. The space has been subtly broken up and the furnishings have been well chosen to soften what could have been a chilly room. The wine list and menu have been composed with equal care and the cocktail list contains pleasing nods to the hotel’s rich history with a number of Victorian-inspired drinks.
