London-City and East London

A beacon on the still-grim stretch of London that is Curtain Road, the Hoxton Pony is everything you’d expect it to be, urban, stylishly designed and a bit self-consciously quirky. The upstairs bar has art made from crushed cars and an open kitchen serving decent grub. Downstairs there’s a tiny dance floor and pounding music. Cocktails are inventive: their infusion jars are particularly cool. You choose a base spirit and then add juices and herbs to create some pretty far out concoctions. The results are served in tea cups. The whole milieu is incredibly Hoxton, but that’s all part of its charm.
