Ninetyeight Bar & Lounge
London-City and East London
May 11, 2018
Formerly a members-only soiree, unique-to-say-the-least Ninetyeight Bar & Lounge has opened their doors to the public, and count us tickled pink about the development. While there may be a few more folks descending the steps to Ninetyeight nowadays, that doesn’t mean they’ve lost one iota of the art-inspired quirky attitude that made the venue so famous. No, we’re happy to report that the entire room wrapped in cloud-white bandages is still there, with the same going for the mannequins, the spray-painted furniture, the vibrant vintage fittings, and most importantly of all, the cocktails.
As always, the list is short, sweet, and always-evolving, but a few recent favorites of ours are the borderline crazy, erm delightfully eccentric Candylife (vodka, strawberry, yogurt and flavor from gooey German candies), the taste bud tickling Get Thin (chamomile-infused gin, celery juice, lime, and bitters) and the spicy Get The Hit (chili & coriander flavored tequila with agave and lime served on the rocks). Don’t think you have to stick to the menu though, as Ninetyeight Bar & Lounge will gladly whip you up something fanciful on the fly on par with the finest listed libations. They also offer masterclasses in mixology and the venue can be rented out, and we can think of no better place to impress your friends than a get together in this ‘art bar meets cocktail gallery’.
