Located at the iconic Barbican Centre, Osteria has brought bold Italian culinary delights and cocktails to life in London, creating a shining reputation for itself in a very short amount of time.
Divided into two sections, the restaurant portion of Osteria features a showstopping wooden carving table in the center of the room, surrounded by splashes of purple and grey furnishings under a set of futuristic bulbous chrome lights. The dishes on offer here are ‘seasonal Italian ingredient-driven’ and are simply spectacular, but more often than not, you’re going to find us at the bar. It’s partitioned off from the restaurant by a gorgeous parquet floor, and has a neon sign above it that declares “Amore Bibo”, which we’re told is Latin for “I drink with Love”. It’s definitely fitting, because we really love their drinks.
The Pear Delight (pear brandy, cloudy apple juice, lemon juice, cane syrup, and egg white) is a fine example of their house cocktails, but we are really taken with their twists on the Italian classics. Yes, negronis, bellinis, and martinis all get updated with love at Osteria with a couple of our favorites being the Spritz Me Up (orange-flavored vodka, special Italian aperitif, lemon juice, and vanilla syrup splashed with prosecco), the Cucumber Bellini (citrus vodka, mint, cucumber, lemon juice, and cane syrup topped with Prosecco), and the Kingston, a jumble of Jamaican rum with classic negroni ingredients. As you would expect, the wine list is also impressive, and complements the fare perfectly.
