This neon-flecked, skull-bedecked Bethnal Green newcomer (from some of the same guys behind Hunter S) balances a quirky aesthetic with a nice line in killer cocktails. Not as whimsical as some bars in this part of town, it’s nonetheless an attractive space with rough and raw brick walls peppered with vintage liquor posters and the odd animal skeleton and stuffed snake giving it a cool wunderkammer kind of vibe. An illuminated ice box on top of the bar glimmers enticingly, laden with fresh fruit, speaking of cocktails to come. The owners have a penchant for hip hop beats and the mood is relaxed, welcoming and appealingly idiosyncratic.

The back bar is very well stocked and the cocktail menu is updated daily, depending on the bartenders’ whims. Classics dominate and they make a mean version of that retro favourite, the Pina Colada; their Amaretto and boubon sour is also worth a punt and th Salty Dog, a blend of vodka, grapefruit juice and pink salt, sounds particularly intriguing. Their signature drink, Satan’s Whiskers, is also a winner and their Scotch egg is a superior example of this now ubiquitous bar snack. Laid back on week nights, things crank up considerably on the weekends, when hip hop beats and local DJs work their magic.
