A classy steak-and-seafood restaurant, The Grill on the Market surprises with its cocktail list, including a selection of decadent dessert cocktails.

The decor of The Grill on the Market suits both its theme and its location perfectly. A modern steakhouse located next to Smithfield Market, The Grill on the Market is decked out in a industrial style – all stripped wood walls, shiny metal tables, exposed pipes and hanging lamps. Curved brown leather booths help soften the edges a little, but the whole atmosphere is one of ‘chic warehouse’. And we don’t dislike it at all.
Food focuses on the best British ingredients, mostly cuts of steak and seafood. There’s also juicy burgers and a few salads, along with some surprises, like a selection of fajitas and a platter of rock oysters. When it comes to the drinks, The Grill on the Market surprises again with its extensive cocktail list; a collection of both classic and contemporary pours. A couple of our favourites include the One Long Day Jerry (spiced rum, white vermouth, maraschino cherry, lemon juice, maple syrup and thyme) and the Sloe Gin Crush (sloe gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, passion fruit syrup and fresh passion fruit), but there’s also several martinis, daiquiris, margaritas and sours. If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love their array of “liquid desserts”, like the Lemon Sherbet (citrus vodka, lemon liqueur, vanilla vodka, lemon juice, apple juice and orange bitters, rimmed with sugar), but there’s also plenty of equally-as-decadent non-alcoholic mocktails and fruit juices. As is befitting for any self-respecting steakhouse, The Grill on the Market has an impressive wine list, complete with a whole spectrum of red, white, rose and sparkling wine from around the world, several of which are available by the glass.
