The Queen of Hoxton
London-City and East London
May 11, 2018
A split-level venue with a split personality, The Queen of Hoxton is a self-proclaimed hipster hangout that serves up bucket loads of fun in the heart of East London. Sprawled over three floors, The Queen of Hoxton features a huge rooftop terrace which changes its appearance according to the seasons – throughout summer it plays host to Caribbean parties and lazy BBQs, while during the winter months it is transformed into a magical wigwam wonderland serving up warming alcoholic toddies under a canopy of fairy lights and tree branches. The ground level of the Queen of Hoxton is a cocktail bar and party venue, whose most popular evening is Mondays, when customers are invited to take part in ukulele workshops or enjoy a round of ping pong in the vintage games area. If a round of drinks is more your style, the ground floor bar serves up humorously-named cocktails like Peaching To The Converted – gin, peach liquor, blackberry puree, peaches, lemon and vanilla – or the Parmala Anderson – gin, egg white, lemon, parma violet syrup and rose jam. Classic cocktails, beer and a decent wine list are also available. In the basement, The Queen of Hoxton really lets loose with raucous weekly music gigs, DJ sets, comedy shows, Motown discos and cabaret events.
