Translate is a fun, sexy little bar in the heart of Shoreditch.
Obviously this part of town isn’t short of hip watering holes, but Translate marks itself out as a lively yet laid back kind of place, run by a cool group of people, with a relaxed wifi and coffee vibe by day – they serve breakfast until 5pm, something of which we approve – before ramping up the volume come evening time, with a mixture of Open Mic sessions and live DJ sets.
They serve a quality range of original cocktails, which are all very reasonably priced by the standards of the area. Their Kamm & Sons and tonic ticks our boxes and we like the sound of their mix of tequila, crème de cassis and lime. The smoky Whisky Fist, a mix of whisky, Grand Marnier and lime is a potent winter drink while their elderflower, apple and gin concoction sounds super-refreshing.
You won’t find Callooh Callay levels of invention here, but that’s not the point of the place. It’s a great place to hang out with a group of mates, sinking a few drinks and maybe partaking of one of the tasty house burgers.
