Wringer and Mangle
London-City and East London
May 11, 2018
Housed within a former East London industrial laundry building, Wringer and Mangle is every concept bar aficionado’s dream come true. The open-plan bar area is sleek and contemporary, with touches that relate to the bar’s industrial roots – exposed lightbulbs, brick walls and chunky communal wooden tables. Unusually for this part of the world, Wringer and Mangle even boasts its own comfy outdoor terrace – but never fear, because even in less-than-ideal climates, the covered and heated terrace provides the perfect spot to sip a few classic cocktails. The cocktail du jour at Wringer and Mangle is the collins, and this is the only mixed concoction you will find on the menu, albeit served up in dozens of mouthwatering ways. There are classics like The Ruski Collins – vodka, lemon juice, sugar syrup and soda top – alongside unique libations like The Walnut Collins – whisky infused with duck fat-roasted walnuts, eucalyptus syrup, sugar, chocolate bitters and chilli foam. If you’re visiting in a group, the Infusion Jars are the perfect order and can be filled with a variety of punches and mixed drinks. If you’re in the mood for food, Wringer and Mangle serve a full lunch and dinner menu, along with special Sunday Roasts, delicate afternoon tea and a selection of bar snacks to accompany your tipple of choice.
