The original Hawksmoor in Spitalfields has long been a favourite with those who know their food and drink.
Said to serve the best steaks in London, their meat sourced from the acclaimed Ginger Pig, a second branch was perhaps inevitable and their new Covent Garden outpost has been hotly anticipated in foodie circles. It doesn’t disappoint.
Housed in a former brewery, it’s a sleek, elegant space, the design subtle and understated. Drinks play a major role in the venue’s appeal and the cocktail list boasts potent punches made to 17th century recipes and seasonally changing Hawksmoor Fruit Cups, as well as a glorious sherry cobbler.
The wine list is equally exciting, full of robust bottles that pair well with a plateful of steak and while you could just linger in the bar with a couple of drinks, in truth you’d be remiss in not staying for dinner.
