Inamo St James

There’s an element of gimmick to Inamo. The key selling point, the interactive ordering system wherein your table becomes a projection screen for the menu, is a thing of which one could soon tire. However the execution and attention to detail in other areas saves this place from its own novelty value. Centrally situated on Regent’s Street, Inamo St James is larger and sleeker than the Soho original. It’s a light, bright, attractive space dotted with bamboo. Before your meal you should enjoy a cocktail or two at the gleaming marble-topped bar. We liked the Sol Levante, a blend of kiwi liqueur and pomegranate with champagne, topped with a plump, drunk blackberry. The food, best described as contemporary Asian, is well executed with a combination of large plates and small plates to choose from; the mackerel with Asian pesto and some light, crisp vegetable tempura were particularly good. The temptation to use the table-top ordering system to load up on more dishes is very high indeed.
